CHURCH OF SAINT BARTHOLOMEW

Erected in 1236 and dedicated to the virgin Mary and Saint Bartholomew by pope Innocent IV in 1248. Many extensions and reforms were made over the years, meaning the town was left with a Romanesque-Gothic church from 1492, many parts of which are still visible today. In 1688 works started to reform the temple to its Baroque style which can been seen today.

BREWSTER GALLERY

Janet is an artist trained in the Academic Technique. This is a style of painting produced under the influence of European Academies of Art particularly the French Beaux-Art movement with its emphasis on Neoclassicism and Romanticism. Jane showcase’s and sells her work in a quaint gallery in Calle Luna near the main square in Sóller.

MUSEUM OF THE ‘CASAL DE CULTURA’

A manor house located in the town centre of Palma dating back to the 18th century. The Museum offers artworks from local artists, a library and much more.

THE NATURAL SCIENCE MUSEUM

The Museum is situated in a turn of the century manor house with a botanical garden. The garden displays flora from the Balearic and Canary Islands and the museum is dedicated to geology, zoology fossils and botany of Mallorca. The Museum is situated on the road from Sóller to Palma.

CAN PRUNERA MUSEUM

Located in the center of Sóller and dedicated to contemporary modernism. Artwork incudes works from Klee, Toulouse-Lautrec, Léger, and many more. The building itself is an architectural wonder from the modernist times of Spain, featuring beautiful glassware, murals and a beautiful stairwell.

COSTA NORD

Inaugurated in 2000 and financed by Michael Douglas, who owns the house S’Estaca, the house previously owned by the Archduke Ludwig Salvador. The Costa Nord is the main cultural center around the Serra de Tramontana. The visitor is guided through the history of the Balearic Island projecting a documentary produced and presented by Michael Douglas, the tour continues with the introduction of the figure of Archduke Ludwig Salvador of Austria aboard his yacht ‘Nixe’.

Costa Nord complements the cultural visit with the service of cafe restaurant offering lunchtime Majorcan buffet for 14.90 € together with Majorcan desserts and drinks with possibility to repeat as many times as you’d like. The Friday nights in the summer are hosting ‘Nixe Jazz Club’ with a fantastic gourmet menu for 29 €. On Saturday summer nights you can enjoy the live opera dinners ‘Notti of Bel Canto’. Ideal setting to organise events, concerts, corporate dinners, meetings or weddings.

CHOPIN’S CELL

The cell nº4 is the authentic cell where Frederic Chopin spent the winter in 1838/1839. Accompanied by George Sand, he rented the cell, which consisted of three rooms and a garden, situated in Royal Monastery (Real Cartuja). In the central hall of the museum you can find the original rental documents, expense accounts of the couple on the island, including the costs of Chopin’s medical treatments and the costs of transport of his piano to Valldemossa.

KING SANCHO’S PALACE

The Palace was built at the beginning of the fourteenth century, ordered by King Jaime II, so that his son Sancho could live in comfort and and find relief from the asthma disease he suffered. The palace was used for the royals rest place and whilst residing there hunting was the main activity.
