DRY STONE ROUTE GR221

The dry stone route GR221 ‘la ruta de piedra en seco’ is a very popular 135 km, 8 day trek along the mountains on the west side of Mallorca. The pathways along the walk are lined with old cobbled paths, which were originally built to link the village and estates on the mountain range. The route is famous for its landscape of olive trees on terraces with dry-stone walls and runs from Port D’Andratx all the way to Pollenca.

DEIA CHURCH

The church dates from the fourteenth century, although it was rebuilt after damages from a fire in the eighteenth century. Inside there is the parish museum with religious art and devotional objects. The church serves Mass at weekends and beautiful wedding celebrations.

Open daily.

Mass on Saturdays and Sundays at 19.00 in the winter (October – March) and at 20.00 in the summer (April – September).

SON MARROIG

‘Son Marroig’ was owned by Archiduke Lluis Salvador d’Habsburg. The ‘Son Marroig’ house is currently a museum featuring original antiques and artefacts, as well as Archduke’s collection of literature.

The house offers stunning views to the coast and sunset and is often the setting for weddings.

ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM DEIA

Founded in 1962 by the American painter and archaeologist William Waldren, the museum exhibits several archaeological findings from local sites.

ROBERT GRAVES MUSEUM

Poet and author Robert Graves (1895-1985) lived in Deia from 1929 until his death.

The Museum is located in his house and has been refurbished to represent how it was when he lived there and adapted for visitors. His grave can be found in the churchyard of Deia.
