CATHEDRAL OF MALLORCA
The imposing Catalan gothic cathedral is a landmark of Palma, overlooking the harbor and offering one of the best sea views in the city. It sits between the Palace of Almudaina to the left and the Bishop-s Palace to the right. King James I promised to build a magnificent cathedral to thank God for his victory over the Moors in 1229, the monument was finished by his son in 14th century and it has been constructed on the site of an old mosque from the times of Muslim occupation. Therefore its facing Mecca rather than Jerusalem.
