FOUNDATION LA CAIXA
The gallery is located in the building of ‘Grand Hotel’, an engaging example of the modernist architecture in the city. Inaugurated in 1903, it was the most luxurious hotel in the whole state till the opening of Hotel Ritz in Madrid. The hotel closed its doors in 1941 to be bought by the state to house the National Insurance Institute. Restored by the Foundation La Caixa and reopened in 1993, it is now an art gallery. There is a nice book shop and café bar on the ground floor.
